Mrs. Sarah A. Houghton, 79, who died of complications at the Rome Hospital at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, had resided in Rome since 1887. She had been ill since May.

She came here from Lee, where she was born November 9, 1856, daughter of William and Esther Byam Golly. She was married to Charles K. Houghton on March 20, 1877 at Lee Valley. He died April 18, 1903.

Mrs. Houghton was an active member of the First M. E. Church. She was affiliated with its Home and Foreign Missionary Society, its Tri-Mu Sunday School Class, of which she served as president for 15 years, and its Ladies Aid Society.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles H. Golly, 711 N. Jay St., with whom she resided for the past several years, William E. Golly, Rome, and Fred J. Golly, Syracuse, three nephews, Raymond Golly, Oneida, and Claude and Lyle Golly, Syracuse, and two nieces, Miss E. Hazel Golly, R. N., and Mrs. Jonas Fike, both of this city.
