Rev. Melville Good, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Argyle Cemetery. Mr. Houghton was born in England. May 8. 1881. A former carpenter and contractor, he resided in Pontiac prior to retirement 15 years ago when he moved to Sanford, Fla. Mr Houghton and Maude Van- derveer were married in October. 1949. in Snover. Surviving are his widow, a son. George Houghton, of Waterford; a daughter. Mrs. William Sloan. Pontiac. 13 granchildren and 25 great

Lieut. Comdr. Ferry C. Houghton, USNR, received last night the F. Paul Anderson Medal of the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers at that organization's fiftieth annual meeting in the Hotel Pennsylvania. The award was "in recognition of notable scientific achievement and outstanding services performed in the field of heating, ventilating and air conditioning."
Dr. Houghton, in accepting the award, delivered an address on "Progress in the Development of Standards of Air Conditioning." Before he was commissioned by the Navy in 1942 he was director of research of the society that honored him.

BiographyJournal, Volume 26 By American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, p. 770: The new member of the Research Bureau staff is Mr. Ferry C. Houghten whose connection with the Bureau began on October 1st. Mr. lloughtcn will be directly connected with the heat investigations of the Bureau and at the Pennsylvania State College.
Mr. Ferry C. Houghten was born in Troy, Mich., in 18X8. He received his elementary education at the Troy and Rochester, Mich., schools. In 1909, he entered Olivet College at Olivet. Mich., from which he was graduated in 1913 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Prom 1913 to 1915 he held a teaching fellowship in Physics at the University of Washington. In 1915, he received Master of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Washington. From 1915 to 1918, he taught science in the high schools at Fllensburg, Wash., and Iloquiam, Wash.
From June, 1918 to October 1920, Mr. Houghten had charge of the Physical Laboratory at the Bureau of Mines. Pittsburgh. During this time, he also had charge of investigations of transmission of heat through boiler tubes and an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Mines, of heating and cooking devices used in the Army.
