Elizabeth Barry Houghton died from the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s Disease, at peace, on October 10, 2018 at Birch Bay Village Maine, where she had resided for more than four years. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 7, 1931, she was daughter of Walter and Geraldine Barry, granddaughter of Edward F. Dunne, Mayor of Chicago and Governor of Illinois. Elizabeth graduated from Northrop Collegiate School, Minneapolis; attended Manhattanville College, New York City and graduated from Columbia-Presbyterian School of Nursing BS, RN. Returning to her home in Wayzata, MN she was a special duty nurse in the pioneer field of pediatric open heart surgery. Traveling to Europe in 1955, she met her future husband, Peter Houghton, an undergraduate at Cambridge University. Through the many twists and turns of fortune, they were married at St.Olaf’s Church in Minneapolis on October 9, 1959. Business took them to Denver CO, Sewickfey PA, Wynnewood, PA and St. Davids, PA, where for more than 20 years; she was an agent for Prudential Fox Roach Realtors. She had a great love of the outdoors, including skating, skiing, both downhill and cross-country, tennis, paddle tennis and walking. Her interest in, and love for people, was tremendous, and an overfilled address book reflects those with whom she maintained contact by phone and note. With Peter, she took many trips to Maine, Minnesota, Rocky Mountain States, West Coast, Alaska. Overseas trips were taken to England, France, Austria, Belgium and New Zealand. As a young woman, Elizabeth joined the Junior League in Minneapolis, and never regretted the commitment, as it became an invaluable aid in relocation to the many cities. She always recommended the League to young women, for both volunteer potential and instant profile of new locations. She had firm moral values, from strong Catholic faith, which she retained until her death. Conviction of the life to be lived hereafter, she died in great solemnity and ease. She is survived by, Peter, her husband of 59 years (Bar Harbor, ME); brother Walter Barry, Jr.

WALKER, Violet Esther (Haven) age 92, a gentle, but spritely spirited lady, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Brandon, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonah S. and Clara G. Haven; husband, Emit O'neil Walker; and sisters, Madeline Reid, Flora Lee Littlefield, and Viola Hankins. Her loving survivors include her sons, Gary O. Walker and Harry O. (Joyce) Walker; grandchildren, Brett A. (Lisa) Walker, Jennifer (Jon) Ugolick, Adam O. (Erin) Walker, Benjamin O. (Iufee) Walker, and Harrison O. Walker; great-grandchildren, Liam O. Walker, Catherine Ugolick, Jackson Ugolick, Annalohrer Esther Walker, Meki Walker, Whit Walker and Looia Walker; her adoring siblings, Inez Bauer, Evelyn (Ron) Green, Donald (Sonja) Haven; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, October 25 at 2 pm, with visitation at 1 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1412 John Moore Road, in Brandon, FL.
