Porterville, CA, USA, Loretta Dee Poteet (1936 - 2010) On November 5, 2010 at 10:00 pm, Mom passed away with her family by her side after a long illness.
Dee was born September 17, 1936 in Oakland, California and was raised on the Diaz Ranch by her grandparents Anna Rose Ryan-Diaz and Ed Diaz. There were many stories of her on her horse "Cricket" with her pet squirrel "Rudy" on her shoulder. She was a proud Canterbelle while growing up.
In 1958 she married her husband Bob Poteet. Together they raced go carts and later stock cars when Dad was president of Rocky Hill Racing Assoc, and Mom was his secretary. In 1965 she began working for Jostens, inc. and worked there until their doors closed in 1997. She always considered them family. Until the beginning of her illness Mom volunteered as a foster grandparent at Porterville Developmental Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Bob Poteet, her mother Irene "Babe" Houghton, a brother Randall Houghton, her aunt Olive Rapoza and uncle Stanley Diaz. She is survived by her son Steve Poteet of Hanford, daughter Anna Poteet, brother Randy Houghton both of Porterville. Brothers; Robert Houghton of Idaho and Edward Addington of Washington, a sister Arlene Standton of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren; Angell Anthony Rios, Anndrea Gabinete and Sheena Gabinete all of Porterville, 5 great grandchildren; Jordan Fuentes, Frankie Ledesma, Meriah Gonzalez, Zachary Longoria and Joslyn Quails all of Porterville. Thanks friends and family, Dee will be laid to rest on Tuesdays, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park. PROWANT, MR. HAROLD Hesperia, MI Mr. Prowant, age 88, passed away Saturday December 18, 2010. He was a member of Local 100 Carpenters and Joiners Union before retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie in 2007. Later, he married Annabelle (Houghton) who survives him along with his children, Wayne Prowant of Shelby, Ralph (Sharon) Prowant of Hope Mills, NC, Colleen (Ron) Skinner of Twin Lake, Charles (Marlene) Prowant, of Whitehall, Christian Prowant of Hesperia, Victor (Ellen) Prowant of Muskegon, Nancy Freeman of Rosston, AR, Gary (Sharita) Prowant of Shelby, Karen Freeman of Shelby, Richard Prowant of Hesperia and Jeffrey Prowant of Twin Lake; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Tim) Pratt of Grant; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and 2 stepgranddaughters. He was also preceded in death by sons, Blaine and Michael. Visitation is Mon. 6-9 PM and the funeral service will be held Tues. 11 AM at the funeral home.¹

Milford, MA, USA, Joseph P. Wilfert Sr., 72, of Plainville, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Babe (Kell) Wilfert, whom he married in 1958. Born in Boston, Dec. 29, 1937, he was a son of the late George and Ruth (Houghton) Wilfert. Mr. Wilfert was a resident of Plainville since 1978 and formerly resided in Wrentham and Franklin. Before his retirement, he was a baker at Hanleys Bakery in West Roxbury for 20 years and had previously worked at Eagermans Bakery in Natick. Mr. Wilfert loved vacationing in New Hampshire, Cape Cod Canal and Cocoa Beach, Fla. Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Pamela Plante and her husband, Charlie, of Bethlehem, N.H., Joseph Wilfert Jr. and his fiance, Angela, of Blackstone, Tammy Robillard and her husband, Daniel, of Plainville, Robert Wilfert and his partner, David Fox, of Hamden, Conn., Keith Wilfert and his wife, Kathy, of No. Attleboro, and Jamie Parker and her husband, Matthew, of No. Attleboro; and three brothers, George Wilfert of So. Weymouth, Raymond Wilfert of Hyde Park and Peter Wilfert of Georgia. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Stevie, Jake, Vicki, Jenn, Andrew, Christian, Keith, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Brodie and Justin; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew. He was a brother of the late Richard Wilfert. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m., at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., in Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com). Burial will follow in Wrentham Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.
