JANESVILLE- Viola H. Houghton, 85, formerly of 126 N. Pearl St., and a resident of Premiere Rehab & Skilled Nursing, Beloit, died there Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005. She was born in Janesville on April 18, 1920, the daughter of James and Gertrude (Fritz) Hessian. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1938 and married Henry Houghton on April 27, 1943, in Santa Monica, CA. Viola had been employed by Playhouse Toys, Passport Jewelry and Weise?s Department Store. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church, very active at the Janesville Senior Center and loved to travel. She is survived by her husband, Henry; 4 daughters: Kathleen (John) Keegan of The Villages, FL, Jan (Steve) Lund of Janesville, Nan (Denny) DiSalvo of Madison and Carol (Randy) Walch of Portland, OR; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers: Albert, James & Gene Hessian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH , Janesville, with Fr. John Auby presiding. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Cyclist, 19, Killed In Stark Crash
MASSILLON - Bruce W. Houghton, 19, of 712 E. Warner rd., Akron, was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle and an auto collided at Rts. 241 and 687, three miles north of here.
He was the son of William G. ‘•Bud’’ Houghton, vice president in charge of sales at Snyder Bros. Motor Freight in Akron and former Akron University and Massillon High School football coach.

The State Highway Patrol has charged Mrs. Bernice M. Taylor, 44, of 4508 Louise dr. NVV, Canton, with failing to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn as the result of the accident.
The patrol said Mrs. Taylor, traveling south on Rt. 241, attempted to make a left turn onto Rt. 687 in front of Houghton's northbound motorcycle on, Rt. 241. The car and cycle collided and Houghton was thrown 72 feet in the air, the patrol said.
THIS was Stark County's 36th traffic fatality this year, compared with 23 at this time last year. The Houghton youth was born in Massillon and was a junior at Miami University in Oxford, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He also leaves his mother; brother, Michael of Washington, and grandfather, Victor Fiebigj of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services will be at in a. m.i Saturday at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
