Thomas Houghton. 71 years of age. who resided at 919 Market Street. Lewisburg. died in the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisbrrg. at 4:20 a.m. today.
He had been in ill health for the past year, having been hospitalized several times during that period. He had been a patient in the hospital for six days prior to his death.
Mr. Houghton was born Feb. 6. 1892, in Lewisburg, a son of the late J. Wesley and Georgiana Hawk Houghton. He had resided in this area all of his life and was married to the former Helen Shirk, of Mifflinburg, who survives. He had been a station agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for a period of 46 years, retiring two vears ago He served an agent in Lewisburg, Mifflin- burg, Watsontown and Montanden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg and was a past master of the Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge.. He had also served several terms on the Lewisburg council. Surviving in addition to his wife, a son, Sgt. Wesley R. Houghton. El. Paso. Tex., two grandsons, Benjamin. Buffalo, N.Y.: and Philip, who is in the U.S. Air Force stationed in California. There are also two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:80 a.m. from the Glenn E. Domsife funeral home in Lewisburg with Rev. John G. Beraheisel. Mifflinburg, officiating. Burial will be made in the Lewisburg Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
