Clara E. Houghton Duesdieker, 91, of Quincy, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at St. Vincent's Home.

Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Quincy, Clara was a daughter of Aubrey Earl and Margaret Mette Allen. She married Ova Houghton on Aug. 2, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1979. She married Elmer "Boone" Duesdieker on Oct. 20, 1990, at the Lutheran Church of St. John in Quincy. He preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2001.

Clara was a woman with a strong faith who loved the Lord and her church family at the Lutheran Church of St. John where she was active with the Ladies Aid and the Wednesday morning Bible study group. Clara enjoyed bingo, playing pinochle with her card club, going to pigeon shows throughout the United States with her first husband, Ova, taking bus trips and going to the boat. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time she shared with them.

Clara was employed at Motorola until its closing and then at Hardee's restaurant at 12th and Locust for 37 years as a member of the morning crew until her retirement.

Survivors include her children, Phylis Ulrich (Robert) of Quincy, James Houghton of Grandbury, Texas, and Cathy Boren (Rich) of Quincy; 26 grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Allen (Gen) of Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Allen of Quincy and Shelbyjean Houghton of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ova and Elmer; a son, David Houghton; two brothers, Fred Allen and Virgil Allen; and three sisters in infancy.
