Bonnie J. Houghton, 68, of Quincy died at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 4, 2011) at Blessing Hospital.

Born Feb. 2, 1943, in Quincy, Bonnie was a daughter of Howard and Elizabeth Canter Gillum. She married David E. Houghton on Dec. 18, 1960, in Quincy. He died Feb. 20, 2000.

Bonnie was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing and camping with her husband, David, and bowling in her younger days. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Houghton was employed by Quincy Public Schools for 38 years until her retirement in 2009.

Survivors include a daughter, Renita Goodwin and her husband, David, of Quincy; two sons, Jeff Houghton and his wife, Carla, of Lexington, Ky., and Donald Houghton of Loraine; seven grandchildren, Dustin Houghton and Ryan Houghton, both of Lexington, Devin Houghton, Jeremy Houghton, Julia Houghton, Jordan Goodwin and Emily Goodwin, all of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Houghton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; and a son-in-law, Daniel Lupatsky.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Bender officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday morning until time of services at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Lutheran Church of St. John.

ARRANGEMENTS: Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
