Born in Scipio, he moved to Auburn in 1984. He was a graduate of Auburn Business School. He was an accountant with Porter Lumber Co. of Auburn and owned and operated a poultry farm in Scipioville for many years. He was a member of Cayuga Masonic Lodge 221 of Scipio, the board of trustees of Evergreen Cemetery, the Aurelius Senior Citizens and the Auburn Getaway Camping Club.
