BiographyR. Sullivan: "He is enumerated in the 1880 Census living in Pomfret, Chautauqua Co, NY, with is wife S. L. Wheelock, and daughters Lelia, a school teacher, and Delia, "at home", both age 26. (Src: 1880 Federal Census, Pomfret, Chautauqua Co, NY, Enumeration District 67, page 550D). His death notice in the Fredonia paper refers to him as Homer Wheelock. The notice reads as follows: "Wheelock, Homer, died 28 Mar 1887. In Dunkirk, in 74th year..funeral at house; buried Forest Hill Cemetery. Resident of Pomfret some 20 yrs. Leaves wife and 7 children, 3 son, 4 daughters, all grown
to maturity. Z. E. Wheelock, superintendant of street railway is one of the sons." The death notice in the Dunkirk Observer Journal, 29 Mar 1887 indicates that he lived on Canary Street,
Dunkirk.
In the "History of the City of Buffalo and Erie County, 1884" [1] it states that Homer was elected an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Orchard Park in 1838, along with Richard Smith and David C. Hough. Homer's parents, Silas and Rena, were both founding members of this church when it was first organized in 1817.
