WALLINGFORD, March 16 Ralph Lysle Houghton, 39, youngest son of the Rev. and Mrs. O. R. Houghton, died this morning at his home in Saddle River, N. J., following a long illness. He was born in Alburg, April 23, 1904, and spent most of his boyhood in Wallingford. He graduated from Middlebury college with the class of 1924, and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Chi fraternity. He was married April 25, 1930, to the former Doris R. Barnard of Granville, N. Y., who survives him. Also surviving are two sons, Lee Barnard, 5, and Jonathan Park, 16 months old; a brother, Albert A., of Jersey City, N. J; a sister. Mrs. Eveline Wetherby of Wallingford; and his parents. A member of the Wallingford Congregational church where his father is pastor, Mr. Houghton was with the Phoenix State Bank and Trust company of Hartford, Conn., for several years following his graduation from college. He then went to New York where for the past 14 years he had been in the office of the Continental Baking company and head of the Department of Priorities and Allocations. The body will arrive tomorrow (Friday) afternoon and will be taken to the Congdon Funeral home. Saturday morning it will be moved to the home of his parents where it will remain until the hour of' the funeral, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 oclock. The Rev. Hugh P. Holland of Danby will officiate. The body will be placed in the vault of the Green Hill ceremtery

ObituaryJun 24, 2010Doris H. DeBacker, 89, died June 16th in Boulder, CO. Doris was born September 19, 1920 to Eugene and Angie (Knights) Houghton in Brattleboro, VT. She trained and worked as a Registered Nurse. Doris moved to Boulder, CO in 1950. She married Hugh Mac DeBacker August 23, 1953. Doris was very much a care-giver and was much loved by all.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Barker and her husband Rich, her son, Jim DeBacker and his wife Ellen, grandchildren Lyman, Alyson Barker Graffis and husband Brian, Austin Barker, Evan Barker and great-grandsons Rory DeBacker and Wyatt Graffis.

Internment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder on June 23rd at 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at First Presbyterian Church,

1820 15th St., Boulder at 2:00pm.
