SALINA - Edith Lucile Houghton, 87, of Salina, formerly of Lindsborg, died Feb. 27, 2008.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her son, Carrol Houghton and wife, Ruth, of Roxbury; her daughter, Kathy Ahlenius and husband, George, of Elmhurst, Ill; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Houghton; her parents; two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Roxbury.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Bethany College, Lindsborg, both in care of Christians Funeral Home.

Edith Lucile Houghton, 87, Salina, formerly of Lindsborg, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008. She was born Edith Messenger on April 22, 1920, in Roxbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Houghton, in 2003; her parents; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include son, Carrol (Ruth) Houghton of Roxbury; daughter, Kathy (George) Ahlenius of Elmhurst, Illinois; and 5 grandchildren.
