Biography

He was injured in a house fire in Dublin, NH, at the age of 20, which left him an "invalid for life". Despite this he led a long and productive life. He moved in 1805 (the year of his injury) to Gilead, ME, where he farmed on 400 acres of land, was a strorekeeper and surveyor, and was active in church work. He was a member of the Congreg. Church in Gilead for 50 years. He held many town postions includ. justice of the peace, selectman, town clerk, and town surveyor. W.W. Wight says that he moved to Bethel in 1835 and lived there thereafter.^7,8
